What is a CEREC same-day crown?
A same-day crown is a custom made dental crown that is done in one visit. Traditional crowns usually take two visits with impressions (molds) and temporary crowns. With CEREC crowns, no impressions and temporary crowns are needed. The tooth is digitally scanned, designed, fabricated and cemented in the office within the same appointment.
What material are the crowns made of?
Single day crowns are fabricated either from a ceramic or a zirconia material.
What is the difference between ceramic and zirconia crowns?
Zirconia crowns are aesthetic looking crowns made up of a white powdered metal that are corrosion resistant, biocompatible, have superior strength and longevity. Ceramic crowns are even more lifelike and most resemble natural tooth appearance. They also have great strength, biocompatibility, great fit and comfort.
What is the Difference between crowns and veneers?
Both actually look exactly the same on the surface. Veneers are mainly for aesthetic purposes. They are fabricated covers that fit over the front of the tooth and slightly overlap the edge for a secure fit. Crowns are placed around the entire tooth, not just the front. They are used to restore and protect the existing tooth.
